THE URBAN FOREST

Located in La Marina del Prat Vermell, nestled in the former industrial and warehouse district in Barcelona, is where the concrete jungle meets a biophillic atmosphere. The intent was to create a visual and nonvisual connection with nature by means of materiality, transparency, the diffusal of light, and greenery implementation. The form of the buildings descends towards the park, where one can be engulfed with nature inside an urban environment.

Biophilic design was an essential design concept where residents and visitors can become one with nature. A biophilic environment encourages improved air quality, climate control, regulation of water in the city, and the reduction of noise pollution. Where nature meets concrete a destination waits, benfiting the mind, body, and soul.
