Hi everyone, I'm so glad you're here! I'm Elisabeth Brewer, founder of EmbArc.

My journey in architecture and design has taken me through nearly seven years of education, from undergraduate to graduate studies, and into the professional world, where my career has continued to evolve in ways I never quite anticipated.

Along the way, I've learned that some of the most important lessons have very little to do with what we're taught in school or the technical skills we develop in practice. They're about navigating uncertainty, finding your voice, redefining success, and figuring out where you belong in an industry.

There's no shortage of resources teaching us how to become better architects and designers. But what about the conversations surrounding the people behind the work?

The burnout. The ambition. The self-doubt. The excitement of new opportunities. The uncomfortable feeling of being lost, even when everything seems to be going right.

That's why I created EmbArc.

A space to explore the human side of architecture, design, and creative careers. To share honest experiences, fresh perspectives, and the things we don't talk about enough. Not because I have all the answers, but because I believe there's value in asking the questions.

A place for students finding their footing, emerging professionals navigating their careers, and creatives questioning what's next.

Because our careers aren't always linear, our ambitions change, and sometimes the path we thought we wanted looks different once we're actually on it.

Above all, I want EmbArc to be a reminder that you aren't alone in figuring it all out.

SO I WENT TO DESIGN SCHOOL & HAVE A BACKGROUND IN THE ARCHITECTURE PROFESSION, BUT WHY CREATE A BLOG?

When I was navigating architecture school, I felt isolated, underprepared, and unsure of what came next. I spent years learning how to become an architect, but there was so much I wasn't taught about navigating the realities of a creative career, finding my place in the profession, or simply figuring things out along the way. That experience inspired me to create EmbArc. What started as a resource for architecture students has evolved alongside my own journey into something much more meaningful.

Through my education and professional experiences, I've come to realize that some of the most important conversations in our industry have very little to do with the work itself. They're about the people behind it. The ambition, the uncertainty, the burnout, the changing aspirations, and the pressure to have it all figured out.

And the more I've shared, the more I've realized just how many of us are experiencing the same things.

My goal with EmbArc isn't to tell you how to build the perfect career. It's to create a space where we can be honest about what it takes to build a fulfilling one.
