My Why

While abroad in England after graduation, i entered onto a train to my next destination. While heading to my seat, I passed a woman on her laptop with rhino & photoshop open. I couldn’t help but ask, “do you study architecture?” She proceeded to tell me that she was in her first year of architecture school in England. She was struggling on how to use the software she needed for a project deliverable, and asked if I could help her. We spent the train ride talking about architecture, school, & how there isn’t enough help out there for students - And there, 2,000 miles from home is when it really clicked. I have the opportunity to share my knowledge & experience to help others in their architecture journey.

Documenting my Journey

A Space for Growth

Architecture school is intense. It’s easy to get lost in the deadlines, critiques, and endless hours in the studio. While this environment pushes you to your limits and helps you grow as a designer, it often leaves little room for reflection. An architecture blog became my space to pause, think, and articulate my thoughts.

Sharing my studio projects, design philosophies, and the challenges I face help me process my experiences. It was like having a conversation with myself, where I could analyze my decisions, learn from my mistakes, and celebrate my successes.

This reflective practice didn’t just make me a better writer; it made me a more thoughtful and deliberate designer.

Connecting the Architecture Community

One of the most rewarding aspects of starting an architecture blog is making connections with people on their journey’s in Architecture. The Architecture community is vast & diverse, with people from all over the world sharing their experiences, ideas, & projects online. The feedback & support I receive from readers - whether they are students, practicing architects, or design enthusiasts - are invaluable. They inspire new ideas and encourage me to keep pushing forward.

My blog became a bridge that connected me to a global network of like-minded individuals who share my passion for Architecture & who see the improvements that can be made to school & the profession.

Building a Personal Brand

Over time, a blog can evolve into a personal brand—a digital portfolio that reflects your journey, growth, and design ethos. It becomes a space where peers, potential employers, clients, and collaborators can see your work and get a sense of who you are as an individual & a designer.

Sharing my Knowledge & Experience

Architecture is a collaborative field where knowledge-sharing is key to innovation and progress. Through my blog, I found a way to contribute to this collective knowledge. My goal is to add value to the community.

My knowledge & experience is helpful for people that maybe don’t have anyone to turn to in the field of architecture, are lost & looking for direction, or need a little extra guidance on where to start.

Inspiring Others

What I didn’t expect was how fulfilling it would be to inspire others. The messages I receive from readers who find my posts helpful or motivating are incredibly rewarding. Knowing that my words can impact someone else’s journey in architecture gives my blog a deeper purpose beyond just documenting my experiences.

If you’re an architecture student or a young designer, I encourage you to consider starting a portfolio-style blog & see where it takes you. It’s more than just a website & social media account—it’s a tool for growth, connection, and inspiration.

And who knows? It might just open doors you never knew existed.

Documenting my Journey

Architecture school is a transformative experience.

It’s a time of growth, mental toughness, discovery, and countless lessons learned—both in design and in life.

My blog became a living document of this journey. It captures my evolution as a student, designer, & aspiring architect - the milestones I achieve, and the challenges I overcome.

It’s important to iterate that you aren’t alone in the tough journey of architecture!

Documenting my journey through my blog serves as a reminder of the hard work, dedication, and passion that fueled my journey in architecture, & the inspiration I have to make a difference to those who need it.
