Architecture + Design. The good, the bad, and the things we don’t talk about enough.

If you feel that you align to purposeful design and good vibes, you've come to the right place!

Hi everyone, I'm so glad you're here! I'm Elisabeth Brewer, author of EmbArchitecture, a soon-to-be Master of Architecture graduate from Arizona State University. As I near the end of my academic career in Architecture, I've realized there's so much that I wish I would have known when I first started my journey. There's truly not enough resources on self development, pursuing Architecture, and tips & advice. I've created Embarch, a lifestyle blog to talk about all things architecture & design. The good, the bad, & the things we don't talk about enough. I've been through seven years of upper education in architecture (I know, rough!), and I have almost half a decade of work experience in the architectural practice setting. Throughout my time in design school, both undergraduate and graduate studies, and within the professional practice of architecture, I've gained a plethora of knowledge that I want to share with you.

So, I went to design school & work in the architecture profession, but what is my mantra? What do I believe in and what am I passionate about?

Although architecture and design are often seen as two entities, I believe they work symbiotically with one another to create meaningful spaces. Designing with place, the environment, and the user in mind, I thoughtfully design interior & exterior spaces that shape the mind, body & soul. I’m extremely passionate about wellness & the effect our built environment has on who we are as individuals. Focusing on human-centered design, I take into consideration the impact that wellness & sustainability have within architecture and design, and vice versa.

This blog is aimed to target those who love to talk about all things architecture & design, the good, the bad, and the things we don’t talk about enough. I hope this catches the eyes of the young, hopeful, soon to be architects and designers who don’t know quite where to start; and the opposite demographic, of individuals who work within the field of architecture and are hoping to see the change I do within the profession. If you're not interested in the architecture profession, this blog will still encourage you to live a meaningful & purposeful driven life of good vibes.

Twice a week I'll share my top tips, my hopes, my reflections, and of course, my opinions. Here are some topics in the pipeline:

  • 10 Tips of Advice if You're thinking of Pursuing Architecture

  • How to Avoid Burnout: The Balance of School, Work, & Life in Architecture

  • How to Master an Architecture & Design Interview

If you have questions, comments, or topics of discussion for future blog posts leave them in the comment section!

All the good vibes,

Elisabeth
