HELPING STUDENTS NAVIGATE THROUGH ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL & BEYOND
Hi everyone, I'm so glad you're here! I'm Elisabeth Brewer, author of EmbArchitecture, Master of Architecture graduate from Arizona State University, & currently on the path to licensure. I've been through seven years of upper education in architecture, and I have almost half a decade of work experience in the architectural practice setting. Throughout my time in design school, both undergraduate and graduate studies, and within the professional practice of architecture, I've gained a plethora of knowledge that I want to share with you!
There's so much that I wish I would have known when I first started my journey into architecture as a student, starting from the very beginning. There's truly not enough resources on self development, pursuing Architecture, and tips & advice. I've created EmbArc, an architecture blog, to talk about all things architecture & design - the good, the bad, & the things we don't talk about enough. I created this blog for all the students thinking about or already attending architecture school to offer tips & advice, guidance on self development, and any direction I can provide on pursuing architecture + design.
Most importantly I want students to know they're not alone in their journey!
BLOG TOPICS
SELF DEVELOPMENT
My personalized tips on how to help you master you as an individual & designer in and out of school to ensure you get the absolute most out of your career!
PURSUING ARCHITECTURE
My recommendations for how to prepare and thrive in architecture school, & how to pursue licensure to be a licensed Architect! After years of experience in the academic and professional world, these are some of the things I wish someone would have told be to help me thrive as a student and as a designer!
LIFESTYLE & BALANCE
Tips & advice on how to prioritize your physical & mental health within a demanding profession to reach your personal goals & aspirations while avoiding burnout. Your life outside of work & school matters! I want you to think of the goals you have within yourself to achieve and continue to work to those. Prioritize your personal aspirations, your emotional & physical health, & the connections you have with others.
SO I WENT TO DESIGN SCHOOL & HAVE A BACKGROUND IN THE ARCHITECTURE PROFESSION, BUT WHY CREATE A BLOG?
My #1 goal is to be a resource on self development, pursuing Architecture, and offer any tips & advice to anyone thinking about or currently studying architecture. I hope this catches the eyes of the young, hopeful, soon to be architects and designers who don’t know quite where to start; and the opposite demographic, of individuals who work within the field of architecture and are hoping to see the change I do within the profession. If you're not as interested in the architecture profession, this blog will still encourage you to live a meaningful & purposeful driven life of good vibes!
Designing with place, the environment, and the user in mind, I thoughtfully design interior & exterior spaces that shape the mind, body & soul. Although architecture and design are often seen as two entities, I believe they work symbiotically with one another to create meaningful spaces. I’m extremely passionate about wellness & the effect our built environment has on who we are as individuals. Focusing on human-centered design, I take into consideration the impact that wellness & sustainability have within architecture and design, and vice versa.
Embrace, embody, & embarc all things architecture - Welcome to EmbArc!
